The Zoology subject was stared in the year 1987 as one of the minor subjects. The scheme of equal important of three optional subjects in B.Sc course was introduced in 1990 as Non Semester pattern. The combination of subjects is chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Now from 2021-22 the NEP pattern syllabus is introduced. In the new syllabus interdisciplinary subjects like Nanotechnology, Bio informatics, Biostatistics, Microbiology, Biochemistry etc are introduced.
The department of Zoology consists of well equipped laboratory and Museum. Apart from chalk and talk method, the faculty members practiced innovative teaching methods like use of LCD projectors, SMART Board, on line teaching Methods etc.

A Report on World Mental Health Awareness Programme
The World Mental Health Awareness programme was held in our college on 17-10 - 2019 under IQAC and Zoology Department in association with Government Health Department on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.
The programme was started with a prayer song by Shreedevi and group.
Prof. Prakash Naragund MGVC.College Muddebihal presented an introductory speech.
The Guest of programme Dr.Satish.B.Tiwari Taluka Health Officer has given idea about mental health. He also advised to maintain physical health.
Another guest of the programme Dr. Manjunath.Masali Psychiatrist explained about maintenance of tension free mind.
The president of the programme principal A.B.Kulkarni made a presidential remark.
The co-ordinator of IQAC Prof.B.A.Guli was also present in this programme.
In this programme 15 staff members and 120 students were present.
Lastly kumari Shreedevi Badiger concluded the programme by proposing vote of thanks.

2. Goal: The Goal of the World Mental Health Awareness Programme is to educate the students and staff members about importance of mental health and fitness of mind and body.
3. The context: World Mental Health Day is an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. It was celebrated for the first time on October 10th 1992 at the initiative of Deputy Secretary General Richard Hunter. In 1994 World Mental Health Day celebrated with theme for the first time was improving the quality of mental health services throughout the world.
