In view of the growing importance of Statistics and the applications in various walk of life, the college decided to start the Department of Statistics and it was started in the year 1982 with the introduction of Elementary Statistics subject for Commerce faculty. Later in the year 1983 Applied Statistics was introduced to B.A part- I as one of the minor subject with initial strength of Nine students for B.A Part-I Sri. A.B. Kulkarni was appointed as Lecture and he took the task of promoting the subject in the college from 1983. With the help and guidance of the Principal Sri. C.V. Mulagund, the subject Statistics was introduced to the Science students in the year 1987-88 as one of the minor subject. Sri. S. N. Bidarakundi and Sri. N.S. Patil joined the Department in the year 1989 and 1991 respectively. Fom the academic year 1990-91 Statistics is considered as one of the Optional subjects for B.A and B.Sc. The Semester system was introduced by the University in the year 2005-06.
The Department has Departmental library with more than 60 titles and these books are issued to students including advanced learners and slow learners. Five computers and more than Thirty Scientific Calculators are available in the Department and these are utilized for practical purpose. Internet facility is being provided at laboratory and office premises.

Achievements of the Department

    Kumari Heenakousar Janwekar has secured First Rank with Gold Medal to the RCU Belagavi during the year of 2014-2017 (May 2017).
    Kumari Shruti Yatagir secured out of out in Statistics in all the semesters of B.Sc Course and she has secured Third Rank And Gold Medal to the University during the year of 2015-2018 (May 2018).
    More than 50 students have secured 100/100, 150/150, 200/200, and 300/300 marks in B.A Applied Statistics and B.Sc Statistics at the Rani Channamma University, Balagavi examinations held during last Five years which is a Unique significant Achievement of the department and Students.
