The Department of Hindi was Established in the Year 1968 with the introduction of Hindi as a Minor subject for B.A course In the Beginning Shree S.L. Patil served Full time lecturer in Hindi Now Myself Dr.Smt. Sumangala. C. Angadi is serving as Assistant Professor in Hindi since 26-07-2008.
With the introduction of semester system for B.A from 2005-06, Hindi is one of the optional subjects of three equal importance.
From 2021-22 NEP in introduced hereby Hindi is considered as one the DSC Subject as well as open Elective Subject.
